Two 18-year-olds arrested in a Maple Leaf burglary investigation appeared in court Friday.
Police say the teens and four juvenile teenagers arrested with them on Wednesday may be responsible for several other North Seattle burglaries. But prosecutors caution they haven't gathered enough evidence to show that.
About 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, Seattle police were called to a residential burglary in progress in the 8900 block of 12th Avenue Northeast. A woman told police she watched some of the teens approach the house to see if it was occupied and then break in while four others waited in a nearby vehicle.
Police say an 18-year-old Ingraham High School student was one of the teens in the car acting as a lookout and was wearing white latex gloves. Several patrol cars swarmed the area and arrested the six teens.
Court documents show the alleged lookout lives about seven blocks from the burglary scene. The other 18-year-old arrested was the alleged getaway driver and also acted as a lookout, police said.
Seattlepi.com does not typically name suspects until they're charged as adults. Monday is the charging deadline.
Seattle police scheduled a November 15 meeting with North Seattle neighbors about the recent rash of home burglaries. A department spokesman was unsure Friday if that meeting would still be held.
