Police: Man wanted to have sex with girls, 13 and 15

A SeaTac man was arrested Friday night in downtown Seattle after police say he attempted to meet a teenage girl for sex.

The 47-year-old was released over police objections Saturday night after posting $150,000 bond. Prosecutors say they expect to file charges this week.

Investigators received a complaint Dec. 2 about the man posting an online ad seeking a young girl. A vice detective posed as a child and responded to the suspect using an undercover e-mail.

"In several email exchanges the suspect continued making incriminating statements of his intent and knowledge to have sex with a 15-year-old girl," police said in a statement.

Police say that, at the same time, a detective with the Seattle Police Internet Crimes Against Children unit was developing probable cause to arrest the man for attempted child rape.

That detective contacted the suspect and pretended he had access to a 13-year-old girl. He allegedly wanted to have sex with the child, and agreed to meet at a restaurant.

"The suspect arrived and saw what he appeared to be police officers and left the area," Vice Detective Trent Bergmann wrote in a probable cause statement.

Bergmann wrote that in the other e-mail exchange, the suspect was going to pay $100 to have sex with a 15-year-old. Friday night about 8 p.m., police say he showed up at Fifth Avenue South and South Weller Street and called an undercover police phone.

A young woman officer who has experience in vice stings answered and posed as the 15-year-old.

"The suspect led us to him and the suspect was arrested," Bergmann wrote. "The suspect was read his advisement of rights and the suspect admitted that he was going to have sex with the 13-year-old and the 15-year-old female."

He was arrested for investigation of attempted child rape and investigation of communication with a minor for immoral purposes.
